DON’T MISS THIS EPISODE!

Our fascinating guest today is a game-changer in progressive psychiatric treatments to manage mental issues like anxiety and depression and ADHD.

Dan Karlin is the Chief Medical Officer of a company called MindMed, whose mission is to improve patient outcomes by unlocking the full therapeutic potential of psychedelics and other novel therapeutic targets.

So yes. Today’s show is all about psychedelics and improvements in mental health.

As a hippie in the 1960’s I am not unfamiliar with LSD and psilocybin. So I have plenty of questions. Dan has plenty of responses.

Just a bit on our guest: Dr Dan Karlin joined MindMed as Chief Medical Officer in February 2021 following MindMed’s acquisition of HealthMode, the company he co-founded and led as CEO. Prior to HealthMode, Dan served as the Global Clinical Lead at Pfizer. He is Board certified in Psychiatry and Addictive Medicine.

In other words, Dan Karlin knows what he is talking about. So, let’s bring him on the show.

#296 Terry Hershey: Managing Fate and Burnout

October 3, 2023 by Charlie Hedges − 0 Comments

Show Notes

Today, I want to chat with Terry Hershey about a subject that I have been pondering and journaling on for several months. The subject is, how you might Manage Your Fate. NOTE: However, we begin the show with a detailed conversation about Burnout.

On to Managing Fate…

Think of your life as an ongoing process of becoming.

In my mind, two primary factors influence everything that happens in your life. Fate and Choice.

Fate represents all that you cannot control in life. (Or think you cannot control). And…

Choice manages the impacts of that fate and even redirects it.

I am advocating that you can maximize who you want to be… right now, tomorrow, and the days after that.

If you’re a frequent listener of the show then you’re already familiar with our always special guest, Terry Hershey. If you don’t know him, Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote speaker, renowned landscape architect, and spiritual advisor.

With that, let’s bring on our guest.

#294 Ann Hince: Unwinding Your Past

September 21, 2023 by Charlie Hedges − 0 Comments

Show Notes

A common subject these days has to do with the trauma… and how each of us has experienced some kind of trauma in our past and, unfortunately for many, it is still a very present reality. A theme I have been working on for a couple of years now, is that each of us is an amalgamation of who we have been and what we have experienced in our past. And very often, that past continues to slip into our present making, us prey for our demons of our past.

What if we could find a way to manage and deal with negative events of our past that we could possibly we could live freer and less burdened lives?

Our special guest today, Ann Hince, has successfully developed a process for dealing with past trauma in such a way as to reduce or even dismiss its impact on our lives. She offers some unique insights that we will certainly explore.

Just a bit about Ann Hince.

When Ann was 19, she woke one morning to find her mother dead in her bathroom. Twenty years later the tears from that trauma were still just under the surface but continued to have severe effects on her emotional well-being.

As she was raising her two boys, Ann determined enough was enough. She wanted to be what she calls “a calm mom.”

It all began when she realized that she needed to change her ways of thinking, so she developed a 3-pronged approach to “unwinding her past.”

Today Ann is a calm mom. I want to find out how she got there.

#291 David Lawrence: Free Will or Determinism

August 30, 2023 by Charlie Hedges − 0 Comments

Podcast Opening

Do we choose the life we live or is our life predetermined by nature, God, DNA, personal experience, or evolution? And… as I just today found out from my daughter-in-law, Maggie Hedges, this is also an important topic among followers and teachers of Astrology.

Yikes! Big, big questions.

Today, my brilliant guest, David Lawrence, has written a book titled Biochemical Robots in which he addresses the question: Is Free Will an illusion or do we truly possess personal autonomy?

David Lawrence holds a degree in philosophy from UCLA and another degree in Law from USC. We are honored to have with us today a real thinker.

I am very much looking forward to our conversation.

#289 Terry Hershey: Wisdom as a Way of Being

August 15, 2023 by Charlie Hedges − 0 Comments

Show Notes

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our American love affair with knowledge and ideas that are measurable… or what is frequently referred to scientific proofs.

Unfortunately, too many influential leaders focus on so-called facts, while pretty much totally ignoring the eternal value of wisdom.

Today, I’m looking forward to chatting to Terry about the place of wisdom in our everyday life—sort of a “lessons learned” from a couple of older guys.

Terry Hershey is our most regular guest. If you don’t know him, Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote speaker, renowned landscape architect, and spiritual advisor.
